Obese Saudis

Majority of the Saudi Arabian population is dangerously fat. This was stated in a conference held here under the aegis of Ministry of Health. 51 per cent of women, 45 per cent adult males, 29 per cent girls and 36 per cent boys are obese. The lifestyle disease that is consequent to oil-fuelled affluence and indolent life, is turning into a life-threatening problem for the majority of people.

$71 bn for war in Iraq, Afghanistan

The US House of Representatives has sanctioned $ 71 billion for the ongoing Bush’s ‘war against terror’ effort in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Muslims in the Army


There are only 29,093 Muslims in the over 11 lakh people who man the Indian Army. Among the top brass are one Lt. General, one Major General, nine Brigadiers, and some more lower rank officials. Several battalions have lot of Muslims. Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry has over 50 per cent Muslims.
