Islamic Voice is doing good service in educating the Muslim masses. It should devote at least two pages for the topics of general interest so that even non-Muslims could also read this. You should have avoided the coverage of Amanath Bank. Topics involving personalities are sensitive. Dr. Masood Ahmed, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu Editor replies: |
I read ‘Insights’ by Maqbool Ahmed Siraj in the Opinion column of Islamic Voice October, 2003 issue. Mohammed Ali Jinnah was endowed with ample qualities of leadership which all other leaders lacked despite their Islamic education, attire and mannerism. It’s where Jinnah succeeded.
He was a secularist to the core and wanted to raise Pakistan as a secular state with interest of the Hindu minority protected. It was only his successors who destroyed Jinnah’s Pakistan.

The article-” The Nightmarish Rishta Ceremony” by Mohammed Hanif in the Islamic Voice of December 2003, made very interesting reading. The story is no doubt based on facts and current trends, but it is one-sided. In educated Muslim communities, the “Rishta” is also the prerogative of the girl’s family with boys being scrutinised right from their complexion to their family status. In my opinion, the bride’s parents are equally responsible for the delay in the marriage of their daughters. Everyday we come across cases where the boys are rejected on the ground of ‘suitability.’ If we go through the matrimonial columns of Islamic Voice, we find that parents want to see a variety of qualities in the would-be bridegrooms- handsome, honest, smart, tall, good-looking, intelligent, highly qualified and of ‘very respected and decent families.” To add to this, they want only doctors, engineers, professionals, civil servants or businessmen of very high income. If they happen to find such grooms, the girl’s parents rush to such grooms and do not hesitate to offer huge cash and kind in the form of dowry. They keep on searching and rejecting proposals for their otherwise qualified daughters anticipating better grooms. The result is that a lot of time is wasted in this process of finding ‘suitable’ grooms. By the time they realise their mistakes and come to their senses, it is too late. Who would after all like to marry an over-aged girl when even divorcees and widowers of middle-age are demanding very very young damsels as their life partners.

The matrimonial column in the Islamic Voice is very interesting. But will some kind reader inform me what on earth is the definition of “innocent divorcee’? Many ads from divorcees especially from the men, attach this word-”innocent divorcee’. I will be delighted if somebody can elaborate on this.

The news, “ Ahmadiyya Leader in Germany Embraces Islam” in Islamic Voice of October 2003 was absolutely the best news item. Ahmadiyas or Qadiyanis are not Muslims. Their religion is not Islam and they are considered as non-Muslims all over the world. They do not accept Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) as the last Prophet of Allah, but their leader Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiyani called himself as the Prophet of Allah. The beliefs of the Qadiyanis are against the Quran and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad and so the Ulema all over the world considered that Qadiyanis are not Muslims.
