Award for Rifaa Home

The Rifaa Home for the Girl Child has been given the Godfrey Phillips Bravery Award for ‘an act of social courage’. The award carries a citation, Rs. 50,000 in cash and gold medal. The award was presented to Ms. Sofia Hameed at a function in Hyderabad on July 31 at a function by former Karnataka governor V. S. Ramadevi.


Rifaa Home is run by the Rabita Welfare Group for Women and Children on Hennur bende area of Bangalore with 70 inmates who belong to underprivileged section.

Doctorate


Dr. Mohamed Shamsh-uddin S.Z, son of Zaheeruddin.S has been Awarded ‘Doctororate of Philosophy’ in Chemistry for his work on “Preparation, characterrization and catalytic activity studies on metal oxides and their modified forms”. (HMS Education Society, Tumkur)
