Workshop Diary
Those Three Golden Days
Fareed
Organised by Quwathul Islam Composite Junior college in Bangalore, boys who went through the “Discover Yourself” Workshop conducted by Sadathullah Khan, say they feel on top of the world!

This was a good experience for me to participate in this workshop. It has changed my lifestyle, way of living, way of speaking, and way of behaving. I could not believe that this workshop could change my life and I see changes in my parents also. I am now able to concentrate on my namaz and studies.

Syeed: After attending this workshop I have totally changed myself. I have started going to namaz and not wasting my time going out with my friends. Since 3 years, I could not stop smoking, but now I have stopped smoking. I have become sincere and truthful and started respected my elders. My parents are very happy. I am in peace now. I started loving people. I will get 90% and above Inshah Allah in the II PUC.
Tousir: My College has given me a lifetime's achievement by holding this workshop. I was not a helpful and happy person, but this workshop has really changed my life. By looking at my changes my parents, brothers and friends are surprised and they too want to be like me. They have expressed what a miracle has happened in my life. Seeing me changed, my parents have also changed. On the first day I thought the workshop will be boring and I cannot achieve anything. Now I can say I have wasted my 16 years of my life. I was irresponsible, mischievous, used bad language and disobedient to my elders. After these three golden days I have come out from darkness to light. I have achieved everything what I required in these three days. I declare that in my II year PUC I will get 92%.

Akbar: I had no confidence in my life and was always worried about the future and there were many problems at home. I could not concentrate on studies. I was just stunned and shocked that there was so much of falsehood in our mind and hatred for others. After attending the workshop I felt that I am on top of the world. I had stage and examination fear and this was removed on the last day. Those three days were the golden days for me.
Ahmed: Before attending this workshop I was like an animal not talking to any one at home. I was in my own world, disobeying parents, finding fault with my brother and sister or cousin. I was rude. Most of the time I am out of my home. My parents used to scold me and I felt they never loved me. After attending this workshop I realised my mistakes and started to respect and obey my parents. I am now trying to be a good son. I am very good with my brothers and my sister. I will be the best student in the college. By attending this workshop my life has become a heaven.

Shamir: This workshop is beautiful and beneficial. It helped me to shed my guilt and be sincere and responsible. As usual whenever I enter my house I will be tired and angry shouting at my sister, brother and my mother. I had the bad habit of not studying in the house. My father always said I was lazy, irresponsible, and not kind to others. These three days in the workshop are the golden days, as it changed my life. My father could not believe that I have changed. I did all the work before he said. I am studying for 2 hours. I could concentrate on my studies and in my namaz. I had the bad habit of teasing and calling nicknames, after this workshop I have stopped and it is really a miracle in my life.

Mujeeb: I was leading a different life before attending this workshop. I did not know what the workshop is all about? After attending the workshop I came to know who I am? What are my values? Before I had attended many jamats and was unable to get their points. Just I use to hear them but here, the coach is so good that he made us understand each and every point. People learn, know and experience the way of life after reaching the age of 50 to 60 years but I gained every thing at this teen age only. On 16th August I changed my life completely. My family is shocked and asked me what had happened to me? I discovered myself. I am very much thankful to my coach.

Nayeem: Before attending the workshop my life was a puzzle. Whenever I returned home after college I used to scold my mother and fight with my sister. I had stage fear. I loved a girl who was beautiful and she refused me and I even attempted to cut my hands to inscribe her name. Now Alhamdulillah I have come out of this and am free. After the workshop I did every thing and I did not fight or scold, my life at home is really a heaven. I have over come fear. I go home at the right time and do my homework. I have a firm determination to be a doctor and I declare that I will get 95% in my II PUC. I will be the Khalifa of Allah. Our coach is really a big ideal. He has committed himself to transform our lives and I have committed myself to transform my life and others.

Murshed: We have come to know what is life, how we have to live our life. We have got most precious knowledge from which we can make difference not only to our life but also in others. After attending the workshop I have not only taken control of my life but have also changed my outlook. When I use to go home before it was a living hell. From past two days it is just as a heaven. Every one is happy and has peace. I thank Sadathullah for providing this workshop and made a drastic change in my life. I wish the change that occurred to me should occur to each and every human being then this world would also be a heaven. Once again I thank you for providing such a marvelous workshop and opening our eyes at the right time. We are very thankful to you.

Khader: Before attending the workshop I was a disobedient child, lazy, stubborn, never used to share any feelings with others, irresponsible and I never lived in peace nor let my family members live in peace. I created tension but now I am a totally changed person. Now as soon as I enter home I greet them. Now I help my parents in their work. I do not find faults in others. I have made a strong determination that I will get above 95% in my II PUC. Now I have concentration in all subjects. This was a wonderful experience in my life. I was in darkness and this workshop has brought light in my life. I have discovered myself. (Note : Names of participants have been changed to protect their identity.)

Change for the Better
Akhther Ahmed Khan
On the shores of Arabian sea, in a little village called Ganguli,Muslim women, carved a peaceful future for themselves after participating in Sadathullah Khan’s Discover Yourself Workshop.

“Be true to yourself…forget your ugly past…live for today with peace and happiness…plan for your better future…follow the commandments of the Almighty Allah revealed through the holy Quran, the ultimate guide for all mankind…seek forgiveness and shed your inhibitions and grievances goes on Sadatullah Khan as the purdah-nasheen ladies respond spontaneously with all seriousness.

Organised for three days from 31st July to 2nd August 2004, by Touheed Educational Trust, Ganguli, a small village, of Kundapura taluk, Udupi district, situated on the shores of Arabian sea, this three - day motivating workshop exclusively for women was conceived, designed, devised and ably conducted by none other than the famous, respected and modest A.W.Sadatullah Khan, editor of the popular monthly, Islamic Voice.

This workshop “Discover Yourself” drew over 80 women of all ages from 16 years onwards, from all walks of life – students, spinsters, career-women, home makers and senior citizens from Ganguli and nearby villages including Byndoor. Khan, single-handedly conducted this marathon session all the three days right from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm subjecting the participants to various interesting, informative and thought-provoking tests and exercises in his unique, characteristic and simple way through a sweet blend of English and Urdu. The main focus was on inter-personal relationship. A family of three generations- daughter, mother and the grand-mother participating in the same workshop was a pleasure to watch.

One middle-aged lady participant revealed, “ It has taught me how to resolve our misunderstandings, and ill-feelings we generally have in our families myself, without expecting others to handle it for us. I feel confident now”. A sixteen-year old student confessed, “ I have shed my inferiority complex, after this workshop I find myself new and fresh.

The closing session on August 2, was presided over by Abdul Khalique G.D, chairman of the Trust. Distinguished dignitaries like Inayatullah Madical, M.H.Fazal and Moulana Altaf were on the dias along with Sharfuddin Manegar and Bedre Abdullah.

The participants of the workshop spontaneously donated their funds to Sadatullah Khan for promotion of this useful workshop. Mementos on behalf of the Trust were presented to him by the chairman. Akhther Ahmed Khan, administrator, welcomed the gathering, rendered the vote of thanks and compered both the inaugural and the closing sessions.
