K.Mohamed Hidayathullah, reporter for Islamic Voice and founder-member of Muslim News Agency, Dubai, has been awarded the “ Tamil Maamani” award for his service to the Tamil community in the field of journalism. The award was given at the 10th Islamic Tamil Literary Conference at Mayiladuthurai, by Karigo Abdul Rahman, a popular poet.

Dr F. Sadruddin Shariff, the world-famous cardio-thoracic surgeon has been honoured with the Universal Friendship Award. The award was given to him for his service in the field of Medicine. Dr. Sadruddin is known for his generous service to the poor patients from all communities . Sober and soft - spoken, he has a series of awards to his credit. Apart from Hope Medical Centre in Bangalore which is run by him, he is also a consultant at various prestigious hospitals.

Bilkis (96. 16 per cent) from St. Agnes Girls High School, Mangalore and Nausheen Fathima (96.16 per cent) from St Mary’s Girls High School, Tumkur have bagged the Afzal Hussain Award for the year 2004 for their excellent performance in the SSLC examination held in the academic year- 2003-2004. Madari Moideen of Edavanna in Malappuram District along with Swamy Agnivesh have been selected for this year’s National Sadh Bhavana Award for Outstanding Social Service. Madari Moideen ,a part-time employee of the Edavanna Government hospital takes care of many destitute children from different communities, in his colony. He along with his wife Mariyam are adopting the likes of Vipindas,Vijesh and Vineeth, all sons of late, Narayanan of the Scheduled Caste colony of Edavanna.
