Muslim Education

What's on in Campuses

Islamic Voice brings to its readers this month a special survey on new courses being introduced in educational institutions run by Muslim managements in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Rapid changes are being witnessed in the education and employment scene. In keeping with the changing market needs, the Muslim colleges have come up with proposals to introduce market-savvy courses. Over the last month, we tried to reach out telephonically to a number of colleges in the two states. The survey will be followed up with institutions in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala being covered in our June issue. It is with a view to help the community students to explore new vistas and avenues within the network of community managed institutions and bring the aspirants and the facilities together. It is not to claim that the survey is complete in itself. Our resources and contacts are limited and we expect more community institutions to voluntarily send us information on their plans and proposals. Insha Allah, such surveys would be part of coverage of Islamic Voice in May and June year after year in future.

Muslims in BPO Industry
By Seema Saleem

The latest buzz in Hyderabad these days is the growing BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) industry. There is a great demand for graduates who have good communication skills and are willing to work in shifts. Interviews in many multi national companies are in progress like Delight, Gokul Accenture, Wipro , Del etc. where hundreds of students are securing good jobs with lucrative salaries. More interviews will be conducted after the graduation results when fresh graduates will be selected. This year approximately 20,000 jobs are expected to be offered in Hyderabad alone.

Siasat Daily has always been trying hard to enlighten and awaken the Muslim youth so that they are successful in securing jobs in every field. In this connection, Siasat with joint efforts from Professor J.H. Salmani has been conducting free lectures and training classes for Muslim aspirants as the college qualification is just not enough to get a BPO job unless one develops special skills like human relations, self control, motivation, right mental attitude, interview skills etc.

Professor J.H.Salmani has been teaching International English, Personality Development, American and British Accents for over 20 years. He conducted his research in forty major cities of the world. He has authored many books on communication skills and has developed a unique method of teaching British and American Accent. In an interview to Islamic Voice, Prof. Salmani said, “The BPO Call Centre jobs are a boon for the youth of today. Students should not waste their precious time during summer vacations and utilize it in the most appropriate manner, and try to learn and improve their skills which will help them fetch good jobs. Usually five out of hundred students are picked up in these interviews. And girls are found to be better qualified than boys.”

Free classes are being conducted in the Mahboob Hussain Jigar Hall from time to time by Siasat where free training is being given and the entrance exam model papers are being solved before the students.
