The Lasting Legacy of Muslim Inventiveness
By A Staff Writer

MuslimHeritage.com, a unique online Education Community brings together Muslims and nonMuslims seeking to advance civilization through the study of Muslim Heritage.

Acup of coffee, windmills, carpets, soap and the fountain pen what do they all have in common Apparently they were all invented by Muslims.

A golden age of civilization, from 600 and 1600 CE, will unfold, as medieval Muslims were trail blazers in fields as diverse as medicine and mechanics, cartography and chemistry, education and engineering, architecture and astronomy.

MuslimHeritage.com, a unique online Education Community brings together Muslims and nonMuslims seeking to advance civilization through the study of Muslim Heritage. Pioneered by the Foundation for Science Technology and Civilization (FSTC Limited), it is an ambitious project that aims to raise global awareness on the importance and relevance of Muslim Heritage and its mostly unaccounted contribution to current world civilization.

This website overflows with the great ideas of the Muslim middle ages. From alJazari and his elegant clocks and alKindi and Ibn alHaitham with their revolutionary optical theories, experiments, and books, to the astronomers who navigated across the desert by the stars, and the mapmakers who put north at the bottom, every page is a mine of joyous information.

There are even recipes to try out, and everything is beautifully illustrated. This unique website has been planned to generate awareness and appreciation of the scientific discoveries Muslims have made over a timespan of 1000 years. The lasting legacy of Muslim inventiveness and scholarship still serves as a beacon to inspire and motivate young people around the world.

Foundation for Science Technology and Civilization (FSTC) is a United Kingdom based educational entity which was formed to popularise, disseminate and promote an accurate account of Muslim Heritage and its contribution to present day science, technology and civilization. As well as owning, developing and maintaining MuslimHeritage.com, FSTC has produced publications, conferences and teacher training seminars on the subject.

Another website manage by FSTC is www.1001inventions.com. 1001 Inventions is a groundbreaking global educational initiative exploring the Muslim contributions to building the foundations of Modern Civilization. The 1001 Inventions project strongly emphasizes how Muslims, working harmoniously alongside people of different faiths and races across Europe, Asia and Africa, were able to contribute extensively in many fields including science and medicine.

FSTC had organised a groundbreaking exhibition titled 1001 Inventions Discover the Muslim Heritage in our World, uncovering the lost history of Muslim science and invention. The video clips are uploaded on www.1001inventions.com.
