The Maulana Azad National Urdu University here has invited applications for admission into M. A. Mass communication and Journalism course spread over four semesters. It is a two-year regular course for those who essentially know Urdu but may practice the skill into any language. According to Mr. Ehtesham Ahmad Khan, Head of the Department of Journalism, the Department has state-of-the art infrastructure. It trains students from script writing to screen production. It has a modern TV studio with multi camera online set up, audio work station for production of radio programmes, outdoor shooting facilities, computer lab with internet and in-house lab journal. Internship is arranged in leading newspapers and guest faculty is drawn from renowned media houses. Each year, 20 students are admitted. Hostel facility is also available. The course fee is only Rs. 11,000 for two years. Candidates must have studied Urdu at 10th standard stage. Admission is by entrance test which is held in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Srinagar, Patna, Kolkata, Mumbai and Lucknow. Secab Group of Institutions, Bijapur New Diploma Courses in Malik Sandal Institute of Architecture

The Malik Sandal Institute of Arts and Architecture here would introduce two new diploma courses from the new academic session. The first one would be in Interior Designing and Landscaping while the second would be a 2-year diploma in Building Services and House Drainage. Both would have an intake of 50 students each. The courses were designed by the faculty members of the Malik Sandal Institute itself. The Vocational Directorate has approved the courses and syllabus. Add-on courses in Inamdar Women's College. The Secab Women's college intends to start add-on courses in 1-Electronic Servicing and Computer Hardware, 2- Computer Application and 3-Hospital Administration. These will be 3-year courses and will enable students of BA, B.Com and B.Sc to pursue them even while studying for their degree. The Ghousia college of Engineering here has secured the smart boards imported from Canada which will enable the computer images to be displayed over the classroom board. Students with laptops can even download the text and images from the board onto their computers. Each board costs Rs. 2 lakhs and has been imported by the Visveswaraya Technical University (VTU), the apex body of all engineering colleges in Karnataka. The College located 45 kms south of Bangalore on Bangalore-Mysore Road, has also recently opened a ladies hostel consisting of 120 rooms for 300 girl inmates. The Sana Group of Institutions will introduce one-year M.Ed course and 2-year D.Ed course through English medium. It is already conducting a D.Ed course through Kannada medium. AMU Engineering College gets IIT status

Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology under the Aligarh Muslim University is all set to get status of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The University Grants Commission has already sanctioned an additional grant of Rs. seven crore to the College for the upgradation to the level of an IIT. It may be recalled that the HRD Ministry has identified AMU’s Engineering College as one of the seven institutions to be upgraded to the level of IIT. The Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology has already submitted its comprehensive proposal to the UGC and the HRD Ministry for 11th Plan period to the tune of Rs. 633 crore. Subsequently, essential financial requirements of Rs. 147 crores were also communicated for the first year of 11th Plan proposed for 2007-2008.
